Our Renovation continues...

Well, needless to say I can barely keep up with the posts of our renovation.

Believe me we are still progressing!

We're so busy & I have been taking so, so MANY photos I really don't even know where to begin!

I thought I would do a few posts this week to catch you up to the present day.

I'm going to split this first one into a couple posts.

On a Friday afternoon immediately after work Travis & I got to work.

Say goodbye to the existing light blue vinyl siding!

Just as we suspected....

There was old painted white clapboard siding underneath.

Maybe....just maybe....

It will be in decent condition or maybe we can refurbish it.....

That was a short lived thought;)

(Okay, so I knew that would have been to good to be true.)

We fully expected to find pieced together holes & god knows what else.

And that we did!

You can see Travis strategically cutting large pieces of the roof to begin to

weaken the structure for the removal of the addition.

Our house was originally built in the 1880's.

We know that the addition you see here was added on at some point.

On the interior of the home this addition left much to be desired.

It was not structurely sound.

We knew from the beginning it would need to be removed completely from the home.

So, our plan was to gut the interior see more here.

Then remove the existing addition which has since been completed.

I will continue to post more pics of the tear down in a seperate post.

Our Best Before & Afters of 2011

Long time...no posting.
I have been a little under the weather this week.

We had an absolutely fantastic Christmas!
We are so blessed to have spent great times with our families that we can cherish.
I hope you all did too.
I hope you all have a great New Years Weekend!

Looking back at 2011.
We did A WHOLE LOT of work around here this past year.

I thought I would recap a few of our biggest and best projects of 2011.

We started outside and worked on our curb appeal a bit.

Here is the before shot.

I would still LOVE to change the front door. 
But the handy hub says no for now (too big of a job & we want to move out....)
Okay....ok....I will let him have this one for now......

Then we moved inside and worked on our front & back porches.
And let me tell ya....they were in some serious need of some TLC!!!

The porches are definitely some of my favorite rooms in our home.
I love the crispness of the white.

Next we moved on to the dining room.

As you can see we went with a lighter color on the wall to help
brighten up what always seemed like such a dark space.
When we first moved in I painted the walls that navy color and I never liked it for that room.

And....FINALLY we (well...mostly Travis) refinished our hardwood floors!!!
YEAH!!!
This project made such a difference in our home.
I just love how it brightened up the room and made it look much more finished.

We did not stop there....

We moved on to the living room that still needed a little love.

We spruced up the living room with some new carpet.
We also swapped out an old dingy sofa for one my little brother had in storage.

This is another room that if I had my way the paint color would so be gone!
It was another oops too dark.
It will do for now.

We also updated our bathrooms this year.

Well......I say not to shabby of a year here at the ol Corson Cottage.
Cosidering the obstacles we faced with my health in early 2011.
We certainly accomplished a lot around here in the later part of the year.
We managed to take what once was our fixer upper & turn it into a home.

Now...if we could just find that perfect buyer for our home!
.........
We would be in business!!!
And moving on to our next project.

Mod Cottage Bathroom Redo

How we took our drab boring bathroom to fresh mod cottage!

Here is our upstairs bathroom before.

Our bathroom walls are just a simple white satin by Behr.

They were actually a lovely pastel seafoam green when we moved in.

It was BB (Before Blogging.)

With just a few simple touches we went from drab to fab.

A rustic vintage table I picked up from a local junk shop for $10.

There is not a lot of storage, so I used a large basket to roll up our towels.

I used a vintage wire basket to store the t. paper.

The 2 prints came from Dwellings. 

I've actually had them for several years.

From my apartment living days.

And a vase with a pop of fresh green.

I love nothing more than simple white walls. 

I think it really allows for the rooms colors and textures to stand out.

You can help let your warm wood tones stand on their own.

I love to do this when I have a vintage wooden piece I've added to a room.

I think the crisp white walls, rustic wooden table, and modern prints
are the perfect mod cottage mix.

Our Two Year Anniversary

In honor of our two year anniversary which we will be celebrating Monday,

I thought I would reminisce a bit with you this week.

So, this week's posts will be devoted to some of our wedding highlights.

It gives me a reason to look back at all my favorite wedding pics and besides

I never got to share them then because I didn't have a blog, right?

I wanted to show you how we transformed the LeClaire Levee Riverfront.

This is photo truly captures everything I hoped the decor would be and more.

You can see our head table in the center which Travis made.

All of our decor ideas were decided between my older brother,

myself and our florist and family friend Marge.

We were blessed to have such talented friends and family to help our

vision come through in such a beautiful casual elegant way.
